Polonnaruwa

Polonnaruwa, another UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka, served as the island’s second ancient capital after Anuradhapura. Polonnaruwa became the capital of Sri Lanka after the decline of Anuradhapura, around the 11th century AD. It remained the capital for about two centuries.
